Gradually I began to understand this tapestry of my life as a gift, I realised that much could develop through this meeting place of ideas, patterns and norms. I thought perhaps it is enough to try and articulate it even just through Visual Art/Drawing.
Through seriously returning to my first love (Art) after so many years of struggling to fulfil this most essential (for me) relationship. I’m gathering all the layers together.
Trying to piece together the Jigsaw Puzzle of my life as I begin to understand the dynamics that have shaped me over almost fifty years, (I turned fifty last year! 🥳….🧁 ) I have become interested in subjectivity far more objectively, that is, thematically. Dynamically.
I’m interested in Art ( Contemporary and Traditional), Sacred Architecture, Mysticism, Religions, Creative/Alternative Education, Textiles, Illustration, Art Therapy, Trauma Healing, Addiction Therapies, Psychology, Women’s Health, Neurodiversity, Herbalism.
Nevertheless what I broadly share is not always related to my experiences/personal perspectives alone and for privacy reasons I don’t always elaborate on the fine details of which is which , this being my way of resisting what I consider the very reductive ideologies of our times…..
It is an unfolding and layered experience, finding my Way as I go. I began using social media as a Journal, mainly because I loved the layout and the visual scrapbooking. However, I dislike the conventional environment of Instagram and Facebook (at least what it has become in more recent years) so I disconnected almost completely. Every now and then the appeal of having some level of interactive online communication with other people with similar interests drew me back to attempting to connect but each time I realised that Social Media just isn’t that anymore.
It has become a marketing space.
As a disabled person, I would still like to find some way to benefit from the positive possibilities of our virtual world, but as the global reality becomes more and more disturbed and polarising, public online spaces can become challenging if not outrightly dangerous. A Blog/Website therefore started to seem like the most sensible option.
